9 - 16 August 2017: Budapest Sziget Festival

The Sziget Festival is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. It is held every August in northern Budapest, Hungary, on Óbudai-sziget ("Old Buda Island"), a leafy 108-hectare (266-acre) island in the Danube. More than 1,000 performances take place each year. The festival is popular with west Europeans. Around 50% of visitors come from outside Hungary, with the largest group coming from the Netherlands. Many also come from the UK, Germany, Italy, France and Ireland. This week-long music festival on an island in the Danube in north Budapest has become one of Central Europe’s largest, attracting tens of thousands of visitors. Budapest Sziget Festival hosts a wide range of international artists and has several stages that showcase a wide variety of musical styles from world music, pop rock and reggae to heavy metal. Facilities and entertainment for children are also provided.
